::I am surprised by the negative reviews of the Mitscherlich ward and other psychiatric-psychosomatic wards at the university hospital. Maybe it's because people with negative experiences are more inclined to vent their frustration... I felt the need to counteract this: After an 8-week stay on the AKM ward, I can say: I was treated extremely competently, sensitively and effectively. Of course there were points of friction during that time, but that's part of good therapy, which is supposed to get you out of your comfort zone and let you explore new paths. The therapeutic team is diverse and looks after all those seeking help extremely closely and thoroughly. With a focus on depth psychology, biography and current symptoms are examined, dysfunctional patterns are uncovered and alternatives are developed in various therapy offerings (individual, group, design, music, mindfulness, relaxation). In addition, methods from behavioral therapy, body therapy, schema therapy and transactional analysis are also used. Admission takes place via an appointment in the psychosomatic outpatient clinic (Thibautstr. 4); Afterwards, I was offered a place on the AKM ward after only a 6-week wait (there were waiting times of up to a year elsewhere). Mind you, this is not an acute hospital - you should be stable enough to be helped back on your feet in a regular daily routine. Looking back, I would have treatment here again at any time and apart from around 1 “dropout” per 40 satisfied patients, most people feel the same way here. By the way, the clinic itself is actually at Voßstrasse 9/2, Google Maps somehow placed it incorrectly.
