We stayed here for 2 nights as a weekend getaway to visit the Christmas market at Ravenna Gorge and the surrounding area. The hotel was easy to find using Google Maps and there's an outside parking and a covered, paying, one (you need to get your card at the reception first, though, and there's no direct entrance to the hotel from the underground parking lot, so not very practical with ice, snow and luggage). Speaking of luggage, we found strange that at a 5 star hotel no one bothers to help you with your suitcases when climbing the stairs to the reception, nor the many stairs to the suites... Fortunately we had small carry-on luggage. Also, I found very annoying that at the reception they insisted we had made 2 reservations for 2 rooms, which we didn't and we tried to prove that by showing our email booking confirmation. We had booked our suite months in advance and they insisted a second room (of different rate) was also booked, which it wasn't (even the name they said it was under was incorrect, I don't know any Sophie and since we were asked how was Luxembourg when leaving, I presume they had another booking from some lady named Sophie from there with the same last name...). I found all that very strange. It made me think if their booking system had been hacked, or was just unorganized, or if they were just trying to charge us another room... It was a first in our many trips in Germany, and it was certainly unpleasant. It borderline seemed they were calling me a liar... The suite itself was very good, very spacious and with a lovely bathroom. Until the lights went out and 2 members of the staff had to come to our room to try to turn them back on. Also, no evening turndown service, which we were also expecting for a 5 star hotel and over 1200 euros 2 nights stay. But just minor details. The hotel was clean and it looked like it had renovations done recently. The restaurant was beautiful. The menu, however, was a little confusing, and we noticed that other guests were also trying to figure out how the orders worked. Also, some doubtful choices for a gourmet experience, like tarte flambée, which costs 12 euros on nearby places. Again, we were expecting a different kind of quality and choice for the price. We can't say we had a bad stay, but we didn't feel like coming back, especially after that awkward and almost rude welcoming. There are great luxury hotels at the Black Forest region, which offer better customer service and overall quality for the same or even lower price. Finally, the area nearby is nice but nothing special in our opinion.

My stay was delightful. The breakfast was good for European standards and quite satisfying. Dinner impressed with its quality. I particularly enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi area, appreciating the lack of crowds. The hotel's distinctive architecture, featuring an old historic building connected to more modern buildings via subterranean passages, added a unique charm to the experience.

A wonderful hotel all-around. Great food, friendly and helpful staff, excellent amenities like the wellness and indoor/outdoor swimming pools, and a top tier organization. A strong recommendation for anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in the Black Forest.

Great stay at this hotel, the food was outstanding, rooms where well decorated and spacious, fantastic facilities (spa, gym, playground, pool, games room) which was perfect for us as a family. The welcome into the room with complimentary cakes, robe and slippers, along with toys for children to play with was fantastic. The hotel is a real treat, however there were afew small changes which I would recommend. You’re paying for full board but not quite receiving full board. The evening meal drinks are not included (there is even a fee for tap water) and you are also charged for the children’s meals & drinks. The entire hotel doesn’t have any air conditioning, this is due to the age of the building. However not to even have a fan provided in the room is a shame. The weather was hot which affected our sleep. Although the hotel was beautiful and a great place to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It felt a little “too posh and pretentious”. The hotel caters for families on one hand but mainly attract elderly guests. I felt uncomfortable at times being starred at by other guests and felt like the only young English family there. The bikes were available to hire, however there were only 4 adult bikes available with no children bikes so we couldn’t enjoy a ride as a family. There is however one four seater family bike which was a lot of fun to try. This was certainly a pleasant stay but I would certainly be mindful of the points above and set your expectations before arrival.

Their webpage is very rudimentary, so you’re better off just phoning them. The location is beautiful, the grounds perfectly kept, as is the spa and pool. The rooms are spacious and have great views. The dinner restaurant is fantastic, absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Opposed to breakfast and lunch. The personnel is overwhelmed and not very professional, though willing. You see that they are being trained and the supervisors are really trying, but still… the trays are not cleaned between users, they are smaller than the plates they are supposed to carry, the eggs in the buffet are made from a mixture, unless you order them directly to your table. Every serving utensil was sticky. So, continue with the training! It would be ideal to get to the quality of dinner!! For the rest, it is a pet friendly hotel, they provide you with bags to pickup after your dog… and then, there is not one single garbage can in the whole property to dispose of it!
