About a week ago I was in the eating program for a week in an inpatient psychosomatic clinic. For all patients who hope to improve their relationship with food, I can say from my point of view that this will not happen. Eating alone is terrible and the eating program gives you no connection to and with food. You are simply forced to eat in a separate kitchen with all the other eating patients, otherwise you are out. Even after several consultations with two therapists and sharing my concerns and my frightening suspicion that my eating disorder was getting worse, I was not taken out of the program but was given the choice: either take part or leave, even though I assured that all other therapies would go along with it help my depression. “Funnily enough” my hunger and eating habits improved AFTER leaving the clinic, just like BEFORE the clinic stay, and I no longer feel tired and lacking energy like I did in the clinic. I enjoyed the rest of the therapies, especially the group discussions. Some of the therapies seemed very unnecessary and strange to me, but in retrospect they were also an interesting way to reflect on yourself. The clinic is extremely strict with appointments, in my opinion the staff is unfriendly, lacks empathy and there is sometimes an unpleasant atmosphere/hierarchy between nurses and patients. However, I had a nurse who was easy for me to communicate with and who helped me a lot in one-on-one conversations. As at the beginning, I would like to appeal to all eating disorder patients and advise you not to visit this clinic.

Psychosomatic day clinic I can only join the others. I was admitted there out of total exhaustion and with the last of my strength because I couldn't take it anymore due to my burnout and our great health system had made it impossible to find a therapist. I would like to raise awareness of the fact that completely different personalities who went out there have the same diagnosis (personality disorder) and that such a diagnosis can be extremely detrimental to people if they are not treated appropriately for their illness! In my case it boiled down to the fact that a neurological peculiarity that had now been correctly diagnosed was simply diagnosed as a personality disorder by the clinic staff, either willingly or due to a lack of sufficient competence. Luckily, a very competent therapist was able to put things right so that the damage that had already been done didn't get any worse. Staff assumptions are made behind a patient's back and cobbled together to meet the criteria for a personality disorder diagnosis that is very popular in this clinic. Assumptions, no facts and without addressing the patient about it. When it comes to the actual struggles that you want to discuss because they are really relevant to you, you either brush them off or just listen until a word or statement comes up that you can twist appropriately and the therapist can redirect the conversation according to your personal taste. Mass processing and no real interest in helping patients. There's no need to talk about the hospital food either. There is no professionally trained person who knows anything about food. There was also no consideration of my intolerances, i.e. if I hadn't cooked or made food for myself (with my money because the care and kitchen shifted the responsibility for organization to each other) I would have only had diarrhea and stomach aches for 10 weeks. In addition, I haven't had a period since the start of my stay and still haven't had one since then. Addressed several times, no response. Go somewhere else.

8 weeks inpatient + 2 weeks in day hospital. The therapy helped me extremely and I can take part in life again. From what I've heard, the clinic for eating patients is really bad. And you can have bad luck with your therapist. You can't change them.

My review only goes to the psychosomatics department! I will try to express myself objectively here, because I found the way I was treated absolutely catastrophic and as a result I lost my trust in authority figures again. I was in day hospital care due to severe anxiety disorders, which meant that I didn't go out at all and just holed up in my room. The first two weeks were okay, except for the extreme coercion and the strictness that you have to be on time for every therapy, even if you don't feel well (or you have to go to the toilet), otherwise you get a warning. With the third warning you are thrown out. I lost a lot of weight during the almost 5 weeks I was there, but not because I have an eating disorder (as the therapist tried to convince me) but simply because the food there was absolutely disastrous. It was basically bagged food in mini portions. (Be sure to take your own spices with you!) Three of the dishes were absolutely inedible for me (vegan offer) and I was glad that I still had a homemade salad or sushi rice with me. Even if I was forbidden to do so for hygiene reasons! The therapist and the ward manager/senior physician? For this reason, I diagnosed an eating disorder. During the visit I was told they wanted to send me to the eating program as an inpatient. I declined because inpatient care is not possible due to my pets at home! For this reason I was kicked out because, according to them, I was avoiding it and the therapy was of no use to me! What my fellow patients see differently because I started to open up and trust them for the first time. My actual traumatic problem, why I was there, was not addressed! It felt like I was put in a drawer right from the start! So be careful what you say there and don't be too honest because the words will immediately be twisted in your mouth! I have seen many patients in a short period of time who were thrown out for the most trivial reasons. I will look for another day clinic that takes my problems seriously and at least trusts me and won't put me in a drawer that I don't belong in again! I really hope that not all clinics are like this one. The best thing about the clinic was the in-house social worker! I would like to thank him again for his help.
