  This supermarket surprised me. I was next doors shopping and decided to buy groceries there… they have a great selection of fresh food such as cheese, seafood, meat. Also a good selection for vegetables. fruits and frozen items. They also have a some different brands from the other supermarkets I’m more used to, which I find cool!

  Quite simply the most disgusting supermarket in Frankfurt. Always dirty with boxes strewn all over the floor, products misplaced everywhere and hygiene standards that remind you of the third world. See attached picture of ceiling for proof of general condition of premises. The outsourced shelf stockers behave like hoodlums.

  Used to be nice. Still have a large offering but totally understaffed. Plan for a regular 20min wait at the cash register with many lines not occupied by an employee.

  Though HIT is not as big as its competitors like Rewe or Edeka, it does carry huge variety and a wide range of products at competitive prices. Apart from groceries, they also sell a decent amount of non-food items which basically meet most, if not all, of your daily grocery and household needs. The shop in Sachenhausen is big with underground parking. I like to shop here but there seems to be some room for improvement. The shelves are placed with the aislea wide enough for two shopping carts. But often you find quite a lot of merchandise placed at the ends of the shelves waiting to be put up on the shelves. They are blocking the way and also give you a feeling that the place is cramped or you have to maneuver your shopping cart to avoid hitting them. I also love to buy seafood here as they have the best offer in terms of variety and freshness compared with other nearby supermarkets. They have recently changed the way they display the seafood in a counter encased by glass partitions as they were doing it for cheese, cured and fresh meats. I miss the open counter which seems more appealing to shoppers. There are a bakery, cafe and sushi shop inside the premises as well. Overall, I am a person who likes to visit supermarkets to be surrounded by great and quality foodstuff, beverage, cooking ingredients and produces, etc. I did find my visits to HIT enjoyable.

  There is less chaos in Lidl and Metro. Staff filling shelves at any time of the day. Recently products on sale show only the discounted price, not the original price, hiding that discounts are often tiny less than 10%. Bad practice.
