::The Fauststube was excellent — great food, attentive service, relaxed yet authentic atmosphere, fair prices — it’s all there! The traditional food offering was full of flavor without being over-salted. This is wonderful choice for dinner in downtown Staufen.

::Charming traditional wood panelled dining room, delicious food, excellent local wine list, and lovely staff. As an added bonus, they’re open throughout the afternoon - a welcome treat for those looking for lunch after the standard 2pm cutoff… we love this place.

::Loved our stay at Der Lowen in Staufen. A very well maintained, clean typical German feel hotel in the heart of Staufen. Very close to the train /bus station, making it easy to commute. Parking was also convenient. Staff was friendly and helped whenever needed. Only place to improve (hence I gave 4 stars): - We ate breakfast for 4 days. The meals were exactly the same. Anyone would get bored. Strongly suggest a slight variation in food. - Wifi could have been a little better.

::This review is for their restaurant only. Centered in the town's little square, we found ourselves so quaintly situated observing the locals and the several weddings. Delicious food that is at least Michelin recommended. I ordered the chanterelles with those bread balls which is a special dish in the summer the the Black Forest region. I don't know where else in Germany that I would have been able to have such an authentically prepared dish like this. It sounds heavy with a cream sauce but it was so delicious and definitely lighter for me then piled on meat dishes. One of my favorite meals in Germany!

::Whether the wonderful story that Faust died here is true or not: the Löwen is a fine and atmospheric hotel, where guests are treated to an excellent breakfast. The rooms are immaculately clean, and the staff are happy to oblige customers with special needs. To those wishing to have lunch or dinner, I can also recommend the chef, whose menus - reasonably priced - are designed to cater to people with plain and very refined tastes alike. Another plus of the Löwen is its location in the very centre of Staufen, which allows for nice strolls, be it after breakfast, before dinner or even late at night. There are plenty of cafés and shops which may tempt guests to prolong their stay.
