::Freundliche Bedienung. Hatten die gewünschte, eher ungewöhnliche Währung da. Es war nicht mein erster Besuch. Die Bedienung ist freundlicher geworden. Ging schnell, Kurs ok, was will man mehr.

::I bought American Express traveler's checks years ago and was keen to exchange them for cash as less places will take them by the day. I was disappointed that Euro-denominated checks exchanged for Euros cost EUR 3.50 per check to exchange. I thought not changing currencies would make the charges negligible as this place is official affiliated with Amex. On the plus side, the currency exchange at Tegel airport charge twice as much. The staff were unfriendly but efficient.

::I usually do not post negative reviews online but I believe I would not do society good service if I don't share my miserable experience within this place. The date is December 29 2014. I do live and work in Texas and I decided to spend the end of the year in Berlin but my experience today will certainly spoil it for me. I have lived in Germany before and I am aware of the pathetic level of racism you can still encounter in this country, which alas can go absolutely unpunished. World War II seems not to have changed much down here and should I mention that I am black and absolutely proud of it. No apologies. Briefly, soon after I entered this tiny place, I already saw the look in the eyes of the uneducated (repeatedly made spelling and counting errors during the short encounter) and poorly behaved clerk named Löschinger. It was obvious that he suspected me of some illegal activity as he first doubted the authenticity of the traveler’s checks I was there to cash. I obtained them from Chase Bank in Texas. I have done this on previous trips and never someone wanted me to first prove to him or her it was my signature before he can ‘waste his time’ proceeding with the transaction. For those who don't know, you first sign your checks at the bank that issues them, then to cash them, you sign again below the previous signature and they need to match. But he clearly stated that he does not want to waste his time with the whole process unless I first show him on a sample it is my real signature. The tone was cold, the demeanor was condescending and the manners were absolutely not good, rather the contrary. You had the obvious attitude of someone who does not care at all. I thought canceling the whole thing, but after finally locating such a place in a very cold snowy day, I decided to let it go which for me is out of character. Should I mention that I am a practicing physician with 2 Board Certifications and faculty in a respected medical school in the states? Beside the fact that I speak 5 languages fluently. Unfortunately in the eyes of that intellectual dwarf and moron called Löschinger, I was probably just a 'n....' . My advice would be to definitely avoid that place stained with prejudice especially of you are a person of color. It is not worth it!
