::I went to the orthopedic office because I have a broken hand and it was operated the week before. I went there because the surgeon recommended a checkup one week after the operation just to see if things are going well with the healing process (by looking into a newly made x-ray of the hand. They did jot want to do the checkup (takes 10 minutes), because they said they didn’t do the operation. While this is true (the operation was done in another city, and I cant drive to another city just for a 10 min checkup) they still made me wait 1 hour just to tell me that they do not want to take the responsibility (these were they exact words!). I went there in the first place, because the surgeon that did the operation said that a checkup can be made in any orthopedic department in any hospital. Moreover, they didnt have any other patients waiting after me, so they had time. I think the doctors in the orthopedic office at the Diakonie-Klinikum can be very unprofessional and that they just dont care about helping patients, which is what the Hippocratic Oath states.

::In December 25, I went to the emergency there because I thought my foot was broken! They did a very professional job I got in line surprisingly quickly! thanks to the hospital team, for the Doctor Y Merz, and also for the X-ray girl, and the assistants and the receptionist! unfortunately my German is not very good, but everyone spoke excellent English!

::There are waiting times and priorities (beeper calls) even in the emergency ward but I am still grateful for the treatment. And if a hospital does what it can under budget constraints that should somehow be taken into account. That is certainly far better than a cover charge for 2,000 USD for a mere prescription renewal - particularly if one is a direct payer. (The actual Diakonie bill was about half of the lab costs for finding an antibiotica which still works, which often will be Ciprofloxacin).

::Orthopedic section is the worst. Treatment of foreigners is worst than just the general care of patients. Long wait times. The only ones who have it together are radiology after waiting a long time for doctor to say what is needed. Avoid this place.
