Nice littlenold style shopping mall with a good selection of shops. Disadvantage is the toilets are not free to be used. Thy ask for a fee. In jena all major shopping centers offter toilets without fee. If this improves anger 1 gets an5 star rating from me.

Well located and kept, mixes in beautifully with its surroundings. Brought variety offers, allowing an enjoyable stroll through at the right time. Whoever goes on the weekend has to or should know better. Miss the flower store.

Before the building was built, Albert Blödner, born in Gotha in the 1830s, acquired the land on which the "Roman Emperor" was later built and ran a sawmill there. Since he moved to Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig around 1870 , he sold the property to the city of Erfurt. Between 1906 and 1908, the old building was built according to the design of the Halle architects Albert Giese and Ernst Giese as a department store Roman Emperor (KRK), the financing of which lay to a large extent in the Jewish merchant family Tietz from Berlin. In 1927, two side wings were added. Ten years later, the Jewish owners of the department store were expropriated by the National Socialists . As of October 1, 1948, the department store Roman Emperor (KRK) on the orders of the Soviet Military Administration (SMAD) in public property and developed in the 1950s, one of the largest department stores in the GDR . After the turn of 1990, the building came into the possession of Hertie Waren- und Kaufhaus GmbH , which was finally merged in 1999 with Karstadt Warenhaus AG . Between 1999 and 2000 Karstadt Warenhaus AG built a modern annex with parking garage and complex reconstruction workcarry out. Since then, the Anger 1 shopping gallery has accommodated some 50,000 shops and a Karstadt branch on an area of approx. 23,000 square meters, making it one of the largest shopping centers in the Free State of Thuringia . It is operated by the Hamburg-based company ECE Projektmanagement .

The Anger, situated in the city centre and close to Erfurt Hauptbahnhof (Central station) is a mall. I went to the mall during my visit to Erfurt and found it impressive. The Anger 1 building which is the main shopping mall is magnificent and grand. There are a large number of shops situated in the building, from local to multinational brands. Situated very close to it on the Anger square is the main post office building, which is equally grand and worth visiting.
