We are here on a German bus tour, and are spending 2 nights here. The rooms are fantastic and our breakfast was awesome. The staff have been great and I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant. Would love to spend more time here. There are several Christmas markets within walking distance as well as hundreds of shops.

Excellent location for visiting Heidelberg’s old city center. I stayed in a single deluxe, which is the perfect size for one person. The rooms are clean and in great shape. Starbucks is close by for good coffee and breakfast at a cheaper price than the States. Of course there are plenty of German bakeries and restaurants for a more authentic and delicious flavor of eating. The castle, bridge and all other old city sites are close at hand. I loved listening to the church bells ring. The Weisser Bock is actually a highly rated restaurant with a few (20) rooms. My room faced inward, right above the kitchen. When in my room, with the windows open, I could hear the clanking of dishes and the employees talking, mostly during the dinner hours. It’s quiet after 11 pm, so if you stay out late, the kitchen noise isn’t a problem. If you stay over a Sunday, the restaurant closes at 5 pm, so it’s very quiet. And since there isn’t air conditioning, if you are here during warmer weather, you will need to keep the windows open. If this will bother you, request a different room location. (Didn’t bother me.) The WiFi is sometimes intermittent. Most of the time it worked. If you want to watch non-German speaking shows, download Netflix or other shows before you get here. The TV is small and only has German speaking channels. Fortunately, I have a T-Mobile unlimited data plan that works in Germany. That helps no matter where I traveled while here. Some other drawbacks besides the WiFi and kitchen noise, the shower stall is very small. It’s hard to shower standing in one spot. Very little elbow room, although the shower door is well designed. Once you’re done showering the doors can be opened inward which gives you plenty of room to dry off. I do like the adjustable shower head. I need one of those in my home! There is only one door key card per room, which also controls the electricity. Very smart for the hotel for conserving electricity, but this can be inconvenient. No card key, no lights. I couldn’t charge any electronic devices while I was out of the room, and I needed to recharge my portable USB chargers. If two people are here together, the person staying in the room needs the key. There is a loss of independence if they want to do things separately and return to the room at different times. Also, the front door of the restaurant/hotel locks after 11 pm. The room key is needed to get into the hotel. Not a problem for me since I did not have to share my room key with anyone. There is no parking right by the hotel. I didn’t have a car, so parking was not an issue for me. I did have to walk with my luggage over cobblestone roads. A bit cumbersome but manageable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and for the price and great location, it’s worth the minor inconveniences. I was here for the experience and charm of staying in the old part of Heidelberg. And unexpectedly also here during Heidelberg Herbst, a large annual festival. That was a fun! I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again.

We went to that restaurant in Heidelberg for New Year's Eve dinner as they were offering a really nice and long dinner. We enjoyed the 7 courses dinner in a good atmosphere. Well recommended.
