My experiences at Dr. Lenzen's practice were absolutely horrible. I am giving her two stars based solely on the fact that she was so nice to me personally, but I otherwise cannot recommend this practice in any way whatsoever. I have suffered irreparable structural damage to several of my teeth do to her recommendations, and I was barely able to play the violin for several months due to her treatment (and I am a professional violinist), and I now have to pay thousands of dollars to correct the damage that she has caused. The treatment that I had to endure from her secretary was also inordinately and inexcusably awful, even for German customer service standards. Complaints are as follows. Dr. Lenzen did not explain interproximal reduction to me properly before the beginning of my treatment (i.e. risks, alternative methods, etc.), and she did not plan it properly before putting on my braces. Due to the lack of room in my mouth for braces caused by overcrowding, a metal ring was subsequently left sticking up after my braces were initially put on and was contacting one of my upper molars. I'm a grinder, so this was particularly bad. I had a job in a symphony orchestra as a violist at the time, and was working several hours a day, which Dr. Lenzen knew. My teeth come in particularly close contact when working or practicing. I had to buy cotton pads and wear them between my teeth while working for the first few days after having my braces put on. The ring fell out completely after a few days, but was still attached to the wire. I was having surgery a couple of days later, and was of course concerned about going under anesthesia with a loose ring in my mouth, but Dr. Lenzen's secretary refused to make time for an appointment to have the ring removed before my surgery. I literally went under anesthesia with braces that were not fully intact, which was a potential choking hazard. Dr. Lenzen subsequently recommended a local dentist who could perform interproximal reduction, and I went as soon as possible. The results were however horrific. My bottom incisors were shaved into the shapes of tiny uneven chiclets (yes, I mean the gum). They were literally shaved into the wrong shape (they are supposed to fan out, not the other way around), and I now have gaps between them. They were also shaved down entirely too small and I still have sensitivity two years later. I am now looking at a lifetime of maintenance on these teeth including composite fillings and possibly veneers or crowns later on. These teeth were perfectly healthy before the beginning of my treatment. I went to Dr. Lenzen in 2015 for treatment after seeing her husband, who is a TMD specialist (CMD in German). She was aware of my TMD and subsequent tinnitus. She didn't think about the fact that I was a grinder and that the braces could damage my upper teeth. My bottom braces started to contact one of my upper incisors and began chipping it several months into my treatment. When I went in for an emergency appointment the secretary scolded me for not calling first, and said I absolutely could not be seen immediately under any circumstances. I now have permanent damage to one of my upper incisors and will have to have it corrected with composite. An additional part of one of my already-too-small bottom incisors was shaved off by an inexperienced intern when she was polishing my teeth. After canceling my treatment due to increasing problems with tinnitus and TMD (I could barely play the viola/violin after my final treatment there because my tensor timpani would literally go into spasms every time I practiced), they demanded that I settle my account in full and withheld my papers for several weeks. I was enrolled in an extended monthly payment plan and still owed ca. 2.000 euros. Please do not go here, especially if you have a complicated case involving TMD. My career was very seriously endangered due to her practices.
