  Very big station with a lot of transport connections and different types of transport. You can change your trip here to S-Bahn, U-Bahn, fast and comfortable regional trains, tram way and to the buses of course. It’s located almost in the center of Berlin between the best streets of this city. Very interesting to go away from this station, just walk around and then turn back and to go any place you need in Berlin very fast and comfortable. By the way here’s a lot of cafes and stop’n’go points with food located.

  Friedrichstr train station is an old important train Station. It has almost 4 different levels and is cross-Point between the U6, S1, S2 and S25 in the -1 level, and The others Abhangs doing the east-west lines including the regional trains on the upper flour. It accessible to wheel chairs. There is an elevator an escalators, but they sometimes are not in use. There is a post office, a flower shop, a supermarket, a Tabak shop, shoes shop, Chocolate-shop, McDonald’s, money transfer and exchange place opposite to the post office, a Burger King a couple of bakeries and an Asian food place that us full during lunch hour. A pharmacy and a drugstore (Rossmann) are across the street. The train station is safe and always busy. There is also a train ticket shop (DB). The are around the train station is full of doctor and dentists. There is a lush shop and a Starbucks across the street. A few minute’ walk to the famous Dussmann bookstore and Unter den Linden Street. behind the train station there is an exhibition which is interesting to understand how the check pint used to be between the East and the West of German. Tränen Palast!

  Some shops, nothing special - a lot of homeless people. Most of the shops are for food. (McDonald's, Burger King, etc.) Essentially it's a train station, not more or less.

  Several underground lines which started off in West Berlin had to traverse East Berlin in order to reach their terminus stations. These trains were permitted to enter the East German territory but were not allowed to stop at intermediate stations, which become known as the Ghost Stations. The Berlin-Friedrichstraße Railway Station became an even stranger anomaly. This station was a major transport hub in pre-war times, and the only place where several West Berlin lines running through East Berlin intersected on Soviet territory. Furthermore, the next station in the westward direction was across the Wall in the Western part of the city. Effectively the Berlin-Friedrichstraße Station was a hole in the Iron Curtain. In order to patch it up the government of the German Democratic Republic created an elaborate maze of barriers and security checkpoints, separating the flow of East and West Berlin travelers every step of the way. It was a place of numerous escape attempts. The separate building created as a border crossing for West Berlin citizens become known as Tränenpalast (“Palace of Tears”) because of the emotional goodbyes that took place in front of it. The East Germans also used an obscure service entrance to infiltrate its agents into the Western half of the city. The same passageway was used by members of the West-German communist party and the West-Berlin socialist party to pass without being checked or recorded. It was reportedly used as an escape route by members of notorious Red Army Faction to avoid arrest in West Germany and the station was also one of the stops on the route of the famous Paris-Moscow Express. The barriers at Friedrichstraße Railway Station were one of the first to be removed after the fall of the Wall. The station today is still one of the busiest in Berlin.

  BIG station. If new to Deutsch Bahn the place can be bewildering. ONCE you've found the information kiosk and/or the ticket office it's dead easy
