  The bar was closed on 2 of the evenings of our stay, which we didn't find out until we arrived. This wasn't a problem as we went out and discovered a bar in nearby Schermbeck called the Ramirez on Massenstr. The food is simple and the service is good. If you planned to see any of the local area you would need a car, however the local road network is excellent and journies are very easy. The staff got to know our breakfast requirements and ensured we had particular requirements catered for.

  My wife and I stayed a weekend here for the purpose to visit Movie Park Germany. When the booking was made, my wife said we will check in between 8PM and 9PM as we're driving from the Netherlands, where the staff said it is okay. It was a 2 hour drive and we're both working full time jobs so we're only able to leave around 6PM. On Booking.com the check in times are 3PM to 10PM, so we're still withing the check in policy. At 19:45, still on our way to the hotel, we received a call from the front desk, asking when we will arrive as they want to "close the house"... We said that out GPS indicates that we are 15min away, where they just said again that they want to "close the house". Hotel room was nice, all is there that you might need, except for 3 things. Airconditioning, a complementary bottle of water like they advertised or a fridge. In this day and age where it gets really hot, it would be beneficial to provide, even if "most hotels in Germany does not have airconditioning" (a response I've seen on one review). If you open the windows, the noise from the street comes in, so there is not a good alternative the help with the heat. When arriving in the room, there was no complementary bottled water, but there was a sign/paper that says "enjoy your complimentary bottle of water". (?) They however said there was a vending machine where you can get water, but this works only with coins, which is a nuisance if you're travelling cashless for safety. There is also no fridge in the room for you to make an alternative plan like buying water at the grocery store and keep it in your room. Drinking water from the bathroom tap was the solution, but the water is not cold enough to help you cool down. The breakfast was nice and the staff made sure everything was stocked the whole time. Before the milk in the coffee machine is empty, they refilled it, and the same with the bread rolls.

  Very good breakfast and the service was excellent. Only a strange thing, the reception advise us to come to the hotel first before going to Movie Park. When we arrived 14:00 we were told that the room was not ready. In the end we checked in later in the evening and our room was very clean and comfortable.

  Good and clean room, kind people who talk and understand English pretty good!
